The Left Pages Of Publove
Journey To Pulvoe
Cari, Ryo, Scar and Oran sat on the deck of Captain Black's ship. They enjoyed the coming wind making their hair dance in the air. Cooling the back of their necks. They all sniffed in the cold fresh salty air.
They heard the seagulls calling in the distance and the calming sound of the sea as it moved with a splash when it hit the ship. They enjoyed watching the fish, swimming underneath the ship.
Scar felt a smile on her lips as she had a misty look in her eyes. Cari could see the exact same look in Ryo's eyes.
"What?" Ryo asked.
"Nothing. It's just that this place is beautiful."
"Yeah…" Scar agreed. "It's peaceful."
"Yes it is."
"But-" Oran protested, confused.
"Come on! You four!" The Chronicler called, before they could explain.
They looked back and ran to the tables as she brought a grey stew. They soon dug into it and their minds became sharp.
"Now, the next island we will be going to is Publove." She explained.
She was about to explain further but was interrupted by Captain Black.
"Ain' tha' tha' big island tha' looks like a book?" Captain Black shouted.
The Chronicler nodded and smiled.
"Wow you're crazy!" He laughed.
"Well, we will be working on the Left Pages. That is where Dark Master Lord Gajellidor built some dark towers that we all need to destroy, for they keep each page enslaved in many different ways." She explained.
"'Page'?" Scar repeated, confused.
They looked back to Scar. She smiled comfortingly.
"Yes, I need to keep in mind that you come from another world. Well, Publove, because it looks like an open twelve page book, and each of the sections that look like a different page-"
"Is called a page." She said as she thought about it for a split second before she frowned.
"But that makes no sense, I mean what you're suggesting is physically impossible!" She said, thinking about the laws of her world.
The Chronicler smiled for a moment. She then took a bite of her stew.
"Well the physics of your world are not like the ones in ours. After all, there are points where the laws of gravity are not as solid as the ones in yours. Such as the reason that the pages are the way they are is the fact that there are certain points at the corners where the gravity works in the opposite direction that it should. That's why the pages do not close into one another and-" she clapped her hands together.
Scar nodded, but by her confused face, she knew she had to process what she had just leant.
Her eyes became unfocused as she reached above her head. She shook her head as she looked up and her face went deathly pale.
"What is it, Miss Cox?" Oran asked. "If you're still confused don't worry. I don't get it either."
"No it's-"
"Captain Gold!" Shouted Captain Black.
They looked up at him and they looked back and spotted a black ship with gold decorating the wood of the ship. It had high black sails embroiled with a golden Jolly Roger with golden coins for eyes. It was coming their way.
"You know that man?" Oran asked.
He cackled bitterly.
"Oh aye, me wee lass, he's none other than my greatest rival on the seventy seas, Captain Gold, who stole my wife!" He growled with embers in his eyes.
He then looked at the other three.
"Oi you lo'! Get yer weapons out 'n ge' the wee lass to safety. This ain' sommert tha' she should see a' 'er age!" He barked, pointing to Oran.
"What? I wanna see!"
"Sir yes sir!" Shouted Scar as she saluted.
Cari and Ryo looked at her confused.
She just shrugged.
"What? I've always wanted to say that!"
The Chronicler and Oran went below the deck and the rest got their weapons and the ship was on them when they returned to the deck. They saw the crew of the other ship fall onto the deck like raindrops with a small thud as they landed. All got their weapons out and charged at them.
"Keep calm Scar!" She called.
Scar nodded as she plucked Darkecter.
"I will." She said as she lowered herself into her fighting stance.
Cari straightened her back and raised her crossbow in both arms. She aimed carefully as her heartbeat increased. She had to keep her time so it would be accurate just like her father had taught her.
They raced towards her in an undisciplined manner yet she fired with a clean and cold precision. Soon all coming from the farthest side of the ship were shark food. She then rose higher and fired at all the ropes cutting all of then off cutting the rest of the ship off from getting any more on to the ship.
Then Ryo swung his scythe and mowed down as much as he could like a farmer mowing down corn. Then some ran to the pole of the scythe but he flipped the blade and punched them and because of his dragon blood he was significantly stronger than they were so they were pushed into the blade and they were mowed down too. This left an opening to him and closed his eyes and soon the wind changed its cause and the other ship was being pulled back and then soon disappeared beyond the horizon.
The remainder of the crew looked back as Ryo's shoulder split open in a line of red. They then looked up and spotted that their ship was no more. They looked shocked as Scar jumped and bounced off the side of the cabin door and swung in the air and hit them both in the head and hit two more in the groin and others in the throat knocking both of them unconscious. The others, knowing that they had already been beaten raised their hands in surrender.
They tied up and looked at their prisoners as Captain Black threw the bodies over board and cleaned up all of the blood.
"So, what are we going to do with you?"
"Kill them?" Ryo asked as he looked over at Captain Black.
"No! I may be a pirate bu' I ain' tha' kinda pirate! Oh aye, I don' like to shed the blood o' prisoners. I even tried to make sure tha' m' own crew did,'! No' tha' I's able to stop 'em mind!" He exclaimed. "It's bad luck."
"So what will we do about them?" Ryo asked.
"Well as yer killed m' old crew, I'm in need of a new'n so why don' you join me m' hearties?"
"Yes!" Said one quickly.
The rest looked at him in scorn.
He shrugged.
"What? I heard that Captain Black treated his crew better. Plus we all know it's either that or the desert island!"
The others shrugged.
"Alright."
With that they had no interruptions on the way there.
Scar and Oran marvelled at the size and height of the highest point.
"Mount Everest you have been dethroned!" Scar said to herself.
She turned to The Chronicler.
"How do people breathe up there?"
"Merth and its atmosphere are ten times the size of that of Earth." She explained as they got into the smaller boat.
"Merth, is that what planet I'm on?" She asked, her eyes lit up excitedly.
"Yes."
"See yer on the other side 'n' be safe lad 'n; lasses, 'specially you Oran."
She looked at him and nodded as she smiled.
"I will!" She sang, smiling a cheeky grin.
With that they set sail and left the ship and Captain Black behind.
Only one ever saw Captain Black ever again...
The First Page
And The First Tower
When they arrived at the doc the first thing that they knew that they had to do was inform King Merath, the king of Stre'head, of their presence. This was to make sure that he did not think that they were here to start anything that he did not want. So, they made their journey to the castle. It was at the top of a hill with a path made of cobbles leading right up to it. Where, to their surprise, they were greeted by the King himself!
He had brought orange hair and light blue eyes that we filled with kindness and love. He wore an emerald green tunic with a thick black belt and a coral red coat. With a silver crown on his head with diamond embedded in the spikes.
It was all too clear by his warm and welcoming smile and welcoming demeanour that he, somehow, knew that they were coming.
"Good morning, all!"
"You knew that we were coming?" The Chronicler asked.
He laughed a laugh that made all feel warm.
"Yes my Queen. I did."
"Don't call me that, I am Queen of nothing." She said, sighing slightly.
"Well, the Great Being told me to call you that and I know that there's a purpose for calling you 'Queen' and not by your other name or your real name." he said, understandingly.
"He also told me to tell you, to say that your past has been forgiven and you shall not have that guilt if you come to Him."
Her eyes raised slightly mockingly.
"I know that it will be difficult to understand now, but you shall when you learn the dark truth about the gods that you all serve." He said and turned immediately to Cari.
He knelt in front of her and placed a hand on her shoulder. He gave her a stern look.
"Princess Cari, please be careful about making vows to any god and be careful when you leave this planet. However your curse of your unnatural reincarnation will be broken in your third life, as the man of one thousand years will reveal the truth when the time comes." He said.
"But I don't have a curse like that!"
"It may not be a normal curse, as in that kind it is a spell."
"But-"
Her eyes widened as she remembered her early years, before she was four, for some reason, she never answered to the name Cari.
"Oh, now it makes sense."
"It will make even more sense at the end."
He then turned to Scar.
"Scar, when you return to Earth in your time your mother will want to live with you and let her in, and I will have to say I'm sorry. By that time you would have been put through your darkest hour." He said, trying to sound underestimating.
"Yeah right!" She mocked, with a bitter tone to her voice.
"And you are to hold no grudge against her. Be honest with her, especially about how you really feel about the situation that you are in. Let her comfort you and comfort her. You must let each-other repair the other's lives and that of your father and step-father and it will lead to something beautiful. However, after the beauty you will learn of your destiny and why you came here." He said, leaving Scar looking as if she was about to throw up.
"Oran Dymshi, do not despise the fact that you are the closest failure of what Scar is. Learn to rejoice in the power that you have. You will also find your family with the Mythos Puros. And that goes for you Scar."
Oran smiled but Scar just shook her head as she rolled her eyes.
"Now Prince Ryo, there will come a time when you and Princess Cari will be faced with an important choice and for the sake of the Muniverse, you must make the right one. And you will understand when the time comes." he said. "Now all of you go."
"Wait." A deep voice came.
A man stood behind her. He looked at her as if pained by something. His eyes were crimson and cat-like and he had long black locks.
"Let me introduce myself. I am Count Ardulac, and I have to offer my unicorns to be your aid until you have finished your business here. They are black, the fastest of their kind so it would be able to take you less than a day to get to where you need to go. And where you need to go is where I have drawn an x on." He explained as he gave her a closed twelve page book.
"Thank you, Count-"
"No my Queen, thank you. After all I hope this is the least that I could do after-" He said as he turned to the King.
"Look I am no Queen."
"If you saw things from my perspective, then you would know that there is every possibility that the one who said that your kingdom will never rise, could have told you a lie. Either knowingly or not."
"Well you were always loved to chase the lost cause. Speaking of which, how is your hunt for your brother going?"
"Well that is why I have come. Although I do hear a rumour that Grasharlo has been defeated by Reho and he split her soul into three. Two of them are awake."
The Chronicler became pale and nodded.
"Yes I know, we have business to discuss. Count Ardulac we need to get inside." He said as he gestured to him to come.
"I wish that the Great Being will watch over you as you all fulfil your mission in life!" They called.
Scar just rolled her eyes as they walked away.
"What was that all about?" Ryo asked.
"Don't know, don't care. Now, let's get a move on." She said as she walked on.
They soon came to a black carriage that seemed to be like moving tree roots and even the wheels looked as if they were the growth of the carriage. Which was being pulled by five majestic black unicorns with a strong build. They had dark ink blue horns and glowing crimson eyes.
"You're telling me we have to get on something as girly as that?" She said, as she pointed at the unicorns.
They all looked at her as if she had said something taboo. She could see that they were stepping back further and further away from her.
"What?"
She soon found herself hitting the ground hard and her arm was hit. Just as she placed a hand over her arm she felt the strong weight of a hoof.
"What did you just say you little son of a dark dire wolf!" The unicorn growled at her.
Her eyes were wide.
"Nothing!"
They're nothing like My Little Pony!
"Well, it better be or I'll ram you in with this horn of mine." He said as he released her. "Then you'll see how 'girly' I am!"
"Sorry."
"Well you better be and what the Demon Realm is My Little Pony anyway?"
"Never mind." She said quickly, not wanting to be attacked by the black uniform again.
"Alright, now get in!" He said.
They all took their seats and closed the door.
Scar noticed that all of them had their backs straitened against the back she followed suit. She then felt something around her neck and then it rose to the jaw and soon she could see what it was. Somehow, there were roots around her. She felt a hand on hers and she looked at The Chronicler and she gave the it's-okay look. With that she removed it.
She wondered why that was but then all became clear when they set off. She soon found the streets beside her become a blur of lines as she felt herself being pulled back. They were going so fast that they felt like they were flying.
Then the lines soon became green as she looked ahead and spotted that they soon stopped. And the brace stopped her from snapping her neck. They soon looked at the giant structure that seemed to touch the ground above. They all felt cold as they looked at it.
They then left the carriage and the moment that they did, Scar just collapsed. She could feel herself shaking as she felt slightly nauseous. She had to just kneel there on the cobbles for a moment as her body recovered from the fast speed that they were going.
"What? Was that your first ride?" Mocked another into her ear.
She nodded.
"Well? Do you think that we are 'girly' now?"
"No. Not at all!"
"Good. There's hope for you yet!"
She then got to her feet as she walked up to the rest she then walked to the long black door and opened. They all looked at her as if they were both confused and shocked at what she had just done. After all, while she was having her moment she did not see them walk up to the tower and at a certain point they bumped into something. They got up and placed a hand on something that was like an invisible wall around the tower.
Now they were all thinking; how did she get past?
"What?" She asked, not knowing why they were looking at her like that.
"How did you get there?"
"What do you mean? Come on!" She called.
They reached out their hands and spotted that the invisible forcefield had gone! They walked up to her and looked at her suspiciously.
"Tell me Scar, your father, who is he?" The Chronicler asked.
She frowned.
"Oh, Alex Victor Hunt. Why?"
"Never mind. It is just there must be a reason that you were allowed to pass and not us. I thought that it must be that you are the daughter of the Dark Master Lord. You were not related to someone that went by the name of Guy Darco are you?"
"Don't know. Don't know anything more than my father's Alex Victor Hunt and Morana Smith." She said, her throat getting slightly tight.
"Anyway! Back on track. Now how're we going to take this thing down?" Ryo asked.
"Right. Cari, Ryo, I would like you to focus on spreading that fire. The stairs and floors are made of wood."
They looked at her and nodded. They looked at the lit torches and reached out their hands and used their magic to spread the fire to the stairs. The fire soon climbed the stairs and soon the fire became hotter and hotter. The smoke clouded the room and the rest of the tower.
They soon had to leave and then they climbed back into the carriage. Scar spotted that the entirety of the tower was eclipsed by fire and black smoke and as the brace came on the tower started to fall causing the unicorns to set off before the brace had time to finish to secure her jaw.
The Second Tower
After two days they had finally arrived on the Second Page in the kingdom Kazki where the second tower lay. As soon as they arrived they noticed several people looking at them. They gave them a blank look that seemed as if they did not recognise them or could process that they were even there!
When they stopped The Chronicler flipped open the map as they all looked at it.
"Looks like the next one's in a cave." Cari noticed.
The Chronicler became pale.
"What is it?"
"I can not go in there."
"What? Why?"
Her face became slightly blue, almost as if she was about to throw up. She shook her head.
"I just can not. Please just don't make me explain. I just don't want to talk about it." She said, with a smile.
Scar looked at her with an understanding that the others knew that they were too young to understand. Almost as if she recognised the look on her face.
"Something traumatic happened in that cave, didn't it?" She asked, almost like it was a matter of fact.
She looked down and nodded.
"Yes, that was back when I spoke a lot like you. However, after I closed a very dark chapter of my life, did I start to speak like I do now, as a way to distance myself from the one that I used to be." She explained.
"And-"
Scar placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Oran, believe me. When it comes to things like this, it's best for her to reveal it when the time is right for her, not when she's still dealing with whatever it was."
"Okay!"
The Chronicler looked at her in an empathetic way. Yet she looked at Scar out of gratitude. She nodded and smiled.
"So, let's go, and Chronicler, make sure you look after Oran and the unicorns." She said, gently pushing her to her.
The front unicorn neighed.
"Or you look after them." Scar quickly corrected, with a high pitch voice.
The front unicorn smirked.
"Well, looks like she's learning!"
"She better be."
"Why is that?"
"You know why."
"Look, all of you, will you quit calling me 'she'?" She called back.
"We do have names you know."
"What are they?"
"Well I'm Shighron, the guy next to me is Nighron, the two behind are Brenigh and Yamkuro, he's Animagan." Said the one in the front.
"Animagneese!"
"Sorry. The one's closest well the tall one's Maruna, the only girl in the group and the youngest is her little brother Starligh."
"Again with My Little Pony?"
"Will you quit reading my mind?" Scar snapped with a curled lip.
"No."
"Alright, let's get this show on the road. After all, we all cannot afford another argument between you seven."
"Ryo's right. So stop it."
Scar looked at the Chronicler and nodded.
They soon boarded the carriage and they were off. It was only a moment later when they arrived. They saw the cave as they stepped out of the carriage with legs like jelly.
The mouth was beside two apple trees. The apples were not only fully ripe but brought scarlet and emerald green and covered with moss and fungus. The cave was so deep that as you looked into it, it looked like there was nothing but a void. Below it were a few small brightly coloured flowers of all colours growing beneath it.
"Wow! This place looks so beautiful!" Oran exclaimed as she was about to run but the Chronicler grabbed her hand.
"But keep in mind, this place is quite dangerous for you. After all, there is evil here." She said as she looked at her.
She frowned and noted.
"Right, I forgot. I'm sorry."
"It's alright. You are a child, after all."
The older trio nodded.
"Team black unicorn, I'm trusting you! Keep them safe!" Scar said as they entered the cave.
"Will do!"
"Good!" She called as she was eclipsed by the darkness.
They walked what felt like for a long time, but they all knew that it could have been no less than an hour. They started to feel their legs start to ache slightly as they walked on and on. They soon spotted a dim light. They knew that they were getting to the place where the tower was.
Scar looked at Cari and spotted a frown.
"What's wrong?" She asked.
She looked at her older red eyed double.
"Nothing."
"No it's not. I know that look."
"Let's just say when I'm in darkness, I'm reminded of all those times that I was beaten up as a kid. Not to mention all of those assassination attempts!"
She looked aside with a hint of depression in them.
"So you were hated too." Ryo muttered.
He then frowned slightly.
"Then why did you do all of what you did to save them?"
"Well even-though I was loathed by my people, I was always loved by my family, and I loved them in return. It didn't matter what the people thought of me. At least I had them." She explained.
"And what about me?" He asked, his eyes filled with an angry glare.
She smiled as she placed a hand on his shoulder and smiled.
"I think that I can love you like a brother. Even just as much as I do Hikari." She said as she then thought about it. "No, I know that I already do. And as for what I did, I can't say how sorry I am."
Ryo chuckled.
"Alright. I'll accept it. After all, during the time I was looking after Riku, I came to understand you and why you did what you did. I also agree with what you did and would have done the same if I was in your boots." He said as he placed his hand on her opposing shoulder.
They then turned to Scar.
"What about you? Do you have any siblings?" He asked as they moved close and closer to the light.
Her eyes watered up.
"Well I have two adopted siblings and one biological half-brother and two biological half-sisters twins. However I can't say that I'm close to either right now. Not do I think I will be able to." She said with a bitter and broken tone to her voice.
She knew that they were about to ask for more detail but the tower was ahead. They were about to go in until something pushed them back and into the walls of the cave. They found themselves looking into the glowing crimson eyes of a creature made of shadow.
"What the hell is that?"
"It's a shadow."
The shadow's shadow soon grew into their chest and they all started feeling cold and they all started coughing. Their bodies became colder and colder and they started coughing and coughing. They could feel ice cold nausea developing at the back of their throat.
Ryo then closed his eyes and used his magic to push the shadow creature away. They felt their heat return to them as they fell down. They has to stop themselves from shivering.
"Seriously, what the actual hell is that?" She asked.
"I already told you it's a shadow."
"Well what kind of shadow is that then?"
"A magic one!"
Suddenly Scar rose above them. She was hanging in the air. Then was thrown across the chamber and into the wall of the tower. She soon felt both pain and shock ripple rapidly throughout her body. She fell down still shivering.
"Scar!"
"Car'! We've got to get rid of this shadow!" Ryo shouted, as a drop of blood fell from his finger.
She looked over at Scar.
"Look, once we destroy the shadow the tower will cease to exist, you must know that?"
"Yes, right." She said as she closed her eyes and raised her arm parallel to her younger half-brother.
She dug deep into herself and used her magic to release a beam of light. It became brighter and brighter and brighter. Soon the cave was flooded with light. This enveloped the creature. Soon it was no more and the tower faded from existence.
"Why did the tower fade?"
"Because that was what the shadow was tied to. It's a protective shadow." She said, her finger split.
"My back…" She said as she tried to get up.
She, with shock, found she could not feel her legs.
"My legs…"
Ryo picked her up.
"The unicorns can deal with that."
They soon left the cave.
"One of you-"
"No need." Said Shighron as he placed his horn on her back.
Soon she felt a warming fire throughout her body. She also felt the most piece that she never knew that she could feel. She wanted to feel like this forever but she was soon pulled out and back to reality. She was able to stand.
"Thank you."
The Tower Witch
They soon arrived on the third page.
They knew that they were getting higher by the lilac sky beside them. They could see the pale orange clouds moving beside them. The air was still breathable, which was because they knew that this place was at an angle and the atmosphere was very thick. Even though the gravity did not reflect this. In fact the only thing that tipped them off that the ground was at an angle was the other side as the upper level and the ground meeting.
The Chronicler opened the map of the Page that they were on. They all had spotted that despite that the place was filled with homes and shops the place was awfully quiet. There weren't even any sounds of birds or bugs. Nor did they even hear any children running around or playing.
They spotted that all of the people that were in their homes were all asleep.
They looked at The Chronicler with questions in their eyes. Wondering exactly what was going on.
She looked at the map and spotted that the tower was marked, however there was a note next to it. They walked back to her as they looked at it.
"This tower is protected by a witch called Towich. It seems that it keeps all those that live in the Kingdoms on this Page asleep. I think being swift will be your friend in this case. Do not book into an inn or tavern here. I think if you do, then you will fall into a deep sleep just like the rest. I don't think that we will wake if we do."
"So let's get there ASAP!"
"ASAP?"
"It's an acronym. As soon as possible."
"Oh."
Started to walk to where the tower was.
They soon spotted the tower. It looked like it was moulded out of black glass and with a crimson spire that was in the shape of a sharp fire on top of a roof with tiles made of sapphire. As they became closer and closer they spotted the emerald double doors with sugilite doorknobs.
When they came to them they opened, welcoming them in. They looked at each other with a worried look in their eyes. Knowing that they were expected and they had no other option, they walked in.
Inside it was quite empty apart from one single couch. Next to the door was a set of spiralling stairs that let up with a sharp point that curled upwards. With a fireplace to the left lit with blue, red and purple flames.
"Well, well, well, I did not expect guests." Spoke a cold voice that was like ice.
They looked up as a white dress came into sight. They then spotted the pale white bare foot step down further and further. Revealing thin and slender hands drawn to the centre with one pinching the other in a perfect v. With perfect nails that looked more line claws. Then the snow white hair came into view, like a milky waterfall. She soon revealed her face that was almost completely white, with barely visible eyebrows and lashes. Above her high cheekbones sat her eyes. The only thing to break in her ghost white features, for they started out red and as they met the whites of the eyes, became deep emerald green.
"Well, well, well, if it is none other than the Mythos Puros herself!" She said, with a note of surprise in her voice.
Then her eyes looked down upon her in pity. Yet this was not a comforting pity, it was a predatory pity. Almost like she was mocking the girl, making her feel cold and exposed.
"I can see that what you are has caused you a lot of pain. Especially between you and your parents. Possibly with you and your mother?"
Scar's eyes twitched slightly.
"I can tell that they do not see your pain nor the pain that they have caused you. Especially that messed up mother of yours! Oh yes, I can see it. The loneliness in your heart, the trauma of what those witches put you through, even your guilt as she reminds you of the pain that you have caused her all her life and the pain that she has caused you because of it." She said as she stepped onto the floor.
Scar was becoming more and more pale by every word that she uttered. Her eyes were becoming more and more watery. Her breath had become almost stifled. Her hand gripped the side of her chest.
"Yet she either does not realise or chooses to ignore how much pain she puts you through. And you try to do the same too. You know, I can tell that you are just like your father. Both are always overcompensating for the pain that you have put her through and the shame and misery your existence has put you through." She said as she walked up to her.
She placed a hand on her cheek and lifted her face up. Scar looked like she was going to puke.
"However, it does not have to be this way. I can help you there. I can be your new mother. I can give you the love that you have so desperately craved. The love you lost ever since your other adopted mother was so tragically murdered." She said as she placed the other hand on her shoulder and gave her an encouraging smile.
"All you have to do is tell me how you were conceived and I will give you everything that you have longed for." She said, tucking her hair behind her ear.
Scar was shaking as her lip curled. She looked up at her with anger in her scarlet eyes. Tears ran down her eyes.
"Back off." She spat as she punched her as hard as she could to get her off her.
She hit the door and there was a trickle of blood coming from the corner of her mouth. She licked it away and smiled a mocking smile.
"So, that is how you want to play it do you?" She said as she looked at Scar directly in her eyes.
She let out a chuckle.
"Looks like I am going to have to resort to my favourite method then."
Suddenly she was on the floor. Her eyes were closed and she built up a sweat. Her face twisted in pain as her woke body floated up in nothing but a blinding pain that overridden all else. She could think of nothing. She could focus on nothing.
"Scar!" They all shouted.
The witch laughed a lyrical laugh.
"Now, now, now! You can not say that I did not give her a chance now can you?" She said as her eyes looked at Oran.
"Now tell me, what is Sylvina's closest failure doing with this group?" She asked. "And why are you so loyal to this group of two royal hybrid bastards and a Queen of a fallen kingdom?"
"They freed me from her and I know that this is where I belong." She said, pointing towards them.
'Really? So do you think that you always belong on the road, not having a true place to stay and rest your head? Oh, how long will you be able to last in this life?"
"I don't know, but I don't care. I owe them my life. In fact I'll be okay with having this be forever." She shouted defiantly.
"How very naive of you. Now, why is the Queen of the fallen kingdom here, mentoring a group of children that you know are, by far, out of their league?" She asked.
"I know that this is what I have to do right now, and you seem to be forgetting that I have been taking down people that are, by far, out of my league since before I was Oran's age."
"Oh, and why are you not fighting me right now?"
"My time to fight alongside them has not yet come."
"Oh? What do you mean by that?"
"They need experience that cannot be given if I fought beside them."
She nodded.
Her eyes dropped to Ryo and she then heard a high-pitched whistle.
She then caught the arrow before it hit her heart.
She looked over at Cari. Her eyes were wide and wild. She raised her crossbow and then was about to fire until she heard a click and caught the pole of the scythe and with one flick of the wrist spun him. He let go of him and he flew back into the black glass walls with a crack. She smiled until she heard another high-pitched whistle and soon there was another thing that broke the blinding white. She fell.
Knowing that she was dead The Chronicler picked up Scar as she guided Oran out as the others smashed the black glass. When the tower started to wobble and they ran to safety as it fell.
The Gang And The Tower
Cari watched over the girls until they woke up.
This gave her time to think over the past journeys. She remembered how almost all of the witches, bar none, that they had faced seemed to be both interested in learning how this older double of hers was conceived. Yet when it came to her they were only interested in killing.
She looked over at Ryo, they seemed mildly interested in him, but it was almost as if he was only important to them because he was her half-brother. Nothing more and nothing less.
Why is that? After all, I'm just one of many, so why me? She wondered.
Soon Scar and Oran woke up and they were soon awake.
"How long were we out?"
"A couple of days."
"Are we there yet?" Oran moaned.
"No, we'll be heading off now." She said with a slight laugh.
They soon were off and in a tavern within the day. Oran and Scar were in one room and Ryo in one of his own. This left her with The Chronicler. The rpm was plain with black covers.
She lay there, in the dark. She was just thinking about what she had noticed like a coin in her head. As she did, her eyes stared at the wooden ceiling, barely noticing it all. She started sucking on her tongue.
"What is it Princess Cari?" The Chronicler asked, concerned.
"I don't know...It just seems to be that every enemy we have faced seems to be interested in either killing me." She said, feeling frustrated.
"They are interested in Scar too." The Chronicler pointed out.
Cari looked at her deadpan as she signed.
"That's not what I meant and you know it. After all, unlike her, I don't have a reason for them to be interested in me!" She replied.
The Chronicler closed her eyes. It seemed as if she knew something that she was not propagated to deal with.
"Well, you are taking down all the evil of Dark Master Lord Gajelidor. So that might be it."
"Then why hasn't Ryo received the same attention? And you know that he doesn't."
Then her face became dark.
Her eyes were narrow, almost out of some invisible pain. She could see it, hidden behind them. She could spot that there were thoughts ticking away in her head. Then, after, between five or ten minutes later her eyes widened after figuring out whatever it was.
She shook her head slightly and then just looked at her again. She knew a decision had been made.
"What? What is it?" She asked, feeling slightly annoyed.
Her face became pale. She looked up at her, almost like a child looking at an adult. It was a strange look on her, Cari could not quite tell if she liked it on the old, young looking woman.
"If fortune is on our side, then it is nothing. However, if what I have deduced is right, then I am not the right person to say. For if you are who I think you are, then I will never be the right person to say." She admitted.
"Then who is?" She asked.
The Chronicler looked away with an even more childlike vulnerability which, to Cari, seemed alien to her. She even saw her bite the bottom lip as she took a long sigh. She closed her eyes for a moment and it seemed that she had fallen asleep. But her eyes opened after a few moments.
"I just hope that you are not the one that I'm thinking about." She said, delicately. "Because if you are then we are in more danger than I foresaw. Also it raises far too many questions."
"But are we not already?" She asked.
"What?"
"Are we not already in too much danger?"
Her head shook.
"Not like this, never like this." The Chronicler said, with a hollow voice.
This left Cari in her own thoughts as she drifted off to sleep. She again had a dream where she saw the demons wearing the masks of the gods. She then took out her crossbow and fired the weapon of the demon king and killed them all.
She woke and looked over to The Chronicler. She noticed that she was not in her bed.
She spotted that the window was open. She opened the curtain and spotted that she was satting on the rooftop. She climbed out and sat beside her and watched the sun rise in silence. Enjoying the heat of the sun and the silence and peace of the surroundings.
They did not need to talk. Everything that needed to be said had already been spoken the night before. Once the sun was up they both climbed back in and joined the rest of the group and ate in silence.
They soon left the tavern paying everything else they needed to.
They then whipped out the map as they walked in the street. They could see the tip of the tower when they heard a scream behind them. They looked behind them and turned. To their horror there were men surrounding Oran. One of them pulled out a knife and placed it under her neck.
Rage and fury entered all of them. Yet they had to keep it tame.
"How dare you!"
"Oh, is this your kid?" He asked.
"Yes, and if you don't let her go you will regret it!" Snapped Cari.
The leader laughed.
He was a boy her age with light brunette hair and dark brown eyes with a pale face with a hardened look.
"Really?" He asked, cocking his eyebrow.
He walked up to the group and placed the knife next to Cari's neck. He leaned in and licked his lips.
"Then make me!" He challenged.
Cari could not hold it in any longer. She punched the man in the gut and spun. She kicked him in the gut again and pushed him away from her. She ran to him and punched him square in the nose again and again before he could react. He then fell down.
He then got up looking at her with wide eyes. He panted and coughed. He wiped the blood off his nose. His friends pulled him up and he then pressed the knife against Oran's neck.
"Give all of us your possessions." He snapped. "And don't try anything."
Cari walked up to the group with anger and disgust in her eyes.
How could they! She thought.
She then took off her back pack and let it hang in front of her with nothing but her hand holding her things up. She then looked at the leader and the whacked him up in the cheek. She then took out her crossbow and fired the rest in the kneecaps until they were all on the ground.
She knelt in front of Oran.
"Are you alright?"
"Yes. Sylvina hurt me more."
They then left them on several benches.
Then walked to where the tower was.
It was a deep brown-pink colour in the bricks that seemed to attract flies. Confirming their suspiration of why the bricks were that colour. The small black door was pointed and it was not made of wood but bone! The knob was a skull!
They felt their stomach churn as they came to the door. They looked at the grim door knob none wished to touch it and none wished to go in but they all knew they had to do it. They looked around, almost questioning each other on who would do the deed. Yet none of them wanted to even touch it.
Ryo huffed and closed his eyes and used his magic to push the door off his hinges and into the tower. They then came in and the room was plain and barren. Almost like none had lived here in centuries.
They looked around and then they heard a sound of chains and several groans like a few guys in pain.
"W-what're we doing here?" A familiar voice came.
"W-wait, are we in the tower?"
"Oh Demon Realm! We are!”
They looked behind and spotted the gang that tried to hurt Oran earlier!
"Is this your doing, you little witch?" They asked, out of a rebellious anger.
"No, what and how are you even here?" She asked him.
"That's what we want to know!"
"Well, there are tales of this place. We also know that there are random times that we hear screams coming from here. Then all of those that enter here and leave are completely different. Almost scary, even more than us! In fact people know to keep far away from the tower."
"Well, I think that I know why." She said as she raised her crossbow and shot.
They closed their eyes as they all fell on the ground.
They looked down as they saw their chains evaporate and then the tower started to shake. Then things started to fall. Cari, Ryo, Scar and The Chronicler all pulled the rest of the gang away from the tower as it fell.
"What just happened?" They all asked.
The Chronicler opened the map and a new piece of text appeared.
"The tower is supported by willing revenge killings, and the only way to destroy the tower is to forgive the ones that did you harm." She said, she looked up. "I have enchanted this text so that you will see this after this for true forgiveness must be done willingly."
They looked at the small hill of dust in front of them.
Medmara
They were about to set off to the next Page the following day. When they were stopped by the gang.
"Hold it you lot!"
Cari rolled her eyes.
"What do you want?"
They looked at each-other in a childlike way, but still retained their masculine posture. His cheeks were slightly coal. They huddled around their leader, who had his hands behind his back.
"Look, it was Cari, wasn't it?" He asked, slightly nervous.
"Yes." She said, nodding slightly and keeping her guard up.
"Well, you know that you saved our lives after we tried to mug you?"
"What of it?" She asked, cautiously.
"Well, we all chipped in with our honest living 'cause we knew you won't like it if we didn't."
"What?" She asked, wishing that they would get to the point as fast as they could.
"We got you this as a thank you." He said as they moved aside.
He presented her with a purple quiver. By the shine of it looked as if it had been moulded from dragon dung. As she touched it, she could tell that it was purified by dragon fire of the same colour. It had a dark emerald rose bush pattern moulded into it along with the thorny vines that wrapped around the quiver. At the top at the lip was a row of orange roses.
She then turned her attention to the thin silver arrows. She picked them off and the moment that she touched the arrows she could feel some connection with them. She soon knew why. They were dragon scale silver. The tips, where the feathers would be, had wings like dragon's solidifying her deductions.
They then gave her a crossbow that was identical to the quiver with orange roses at each ends with a silver string.
"How did you afford the dragon scale silver arrows?" She gasped.
"Wait, that's what they are?" He exclaimed.
"You didn't know?"
"N-no!" He said, starting to become slightly shy.
"We just wanted to get the most beautiful quiver along with the most beautiful arrows for you." He admitted.
She looked at them touched by his sincerity.
"Thank you!" She gasped, kissing him on the cheek.
"Come on Cari!" Scar called.
She smiled and gave them a two fingered solute as she turned. She walked to where the carriage was, leaving the leader with a scarlet face.
"Are they dragon scale silver?" Ryo asked, slightly baffled.
She looked down at her collection and nodded.
"Yes! Even though they didn't know what they were buying at the time." She said as she buckled it to her side.
She was about to climb in until she saw the pale face of The Chronicler.
"Are you alright?" She asked.
Her eyes were unfocused as she nodded.
"Cari, when the time comes we are going to have to visit an old friend of mine." She said, like there was a lump in her throat.
Cari, remembering their conversation, simply nodded.
They all took their places and they were off to the next Page. They were there within the day, after all when the unicorns flew up to the corner and after a hundred miles of rock and mud they landed at the corner. There it was at the edge of the kingdom of Briadae and when they landed they were able to get a better look at it.
It was surrounded by a circular curb and then the tower that was completely black without any windows or doors and had one single spire at the top making it look more like a giant candle.
"How do we get in?" Ryo asked.
"I don't think that I know." Cari said.
"Don't worry! I'm on the case!"
Scar looked at it and then went around the tower. She looked at it like a hawk searching for its prey. She then looked down at the square cream tiles on the ground. Cari and Ryo frowned as they wondered what she was doing. They were about to ask but the Chronicler shook her head. Understanding what she was trying to say they just watched her as she was now scanning the curb. She then moved to the section in front of the tower. She then crouched to the floor and then looked around the edges.
"Ah ha!" She said, with an exaggerated British accent.
"What?" The half-siblings said in unison.
She put one finger up and with the other hand she put pressure on the stone and pushed down but then when she took her hand away and that part of the curb rose and so did the square tiles behind. However that was all that happened. Scar then frowned and then looked down and saw something and then pushed the section of the curb in and then the tiles fell down to create a staircase.
They looked at her astonished.
"How?"
"Elementary my dear Watson!" She said, in that British accent.
"Who?"
She sighed and shook her head.
"I knew that there had to be a way in. The question was how? So, I looked at the tower thinking that the way in had something to do with the bricks, but I could not find any brick that stood out. So, I looked at the tiles on the floor but failing that, I looked at the curb."
"And that's how you found out where the entrance was." Oran finished with a smile.
"Precisely!" She said, slamming the side of her hand into her palm.
"So let's go!" She exclaimed.
"No, you're far too young, plus we don't know what's in there. So stay here with The Chronicler and the unicorns." Cari said, pointing at her.
"Agreed, wait until you're our age until you let yourself be involved in whatever lies beyond." Ryo said, as he used all that he had within him to force a pleasant smile on his face.
"So look after the unicorns alright?" He asked.
"Hey!"
"Don't worry they'll look after me!" She sang, with a smile.
They then walked to the staircase and descended.
When they were at the bottom the staircase rose up and sealed them in with the dark. Then green flames rose up from torches held in the hands of gorgons. They wore a Greek dress with brooches of a cobra about to strike at the top and a coral serpent around her waist as a belt. Their faces were identical with cold beauty and her open mouth exposed her long fangs.
They heard the sound of the sea as they walked down a small corridor. They then came to a staircase that was carved into snakes that ran alongside each other and piled on top of each other. They heard that the sound of the sea had some aggression in its sound. Their stomach churned as they soon realised that it was not the sound of the see that was in that place.
Their eyes closed out of dread. They climbed up the stairs. They came to a set of double doors that looked like it was made if emerald with cobras as the handles.
"Do you think that we're ready for this?" Cari asked.
"I don't think so."
"Scar, have my old cross bow and arrows." She said, as she passed them to her.
She looked at the weapon.
"Thank you!" She said, as she felt a lump of dread form in the back of her throat.
They then opened the doors to see the sea of snakes. They looked at the trio as Scar and Cari stood side by side and took their aim synchronised. Which made Scar looking like an older version of Cari. They even fired at the same time, and both hit the snakes at the same times. They even moved in an identical way like Cari was fighting along side an older version of herself!
Ryo knowing that his scythe would not be a good thing to use at the moment spread out his hand and used his magic to incinerate a stripe of snakes then his arm split open.
"Scar! Use my fire!" He shouted, clutching his arm.
Scar saw it and nodded and dropped to the ground. Aiming carefully, she fired at the sea of snakes across the line of fire. Making sure to fire at a snake already on fire and it landed in a patch of snakes that were not on fire and with the closeness of the rest of the snakes caught fire!
"Cari?"
"Already on it!" She shouted. "Surge ignis de draco!"
Soon all of her dragon silver arrows combusted and the fire spread and soon the room was filled with a sea of fire.
"Oh, well that was hardly very nice!" A cold high-pitched icy voice called.
Then the fire became extinguished.
This left only darkness.
"You killed my precious children!" She said, with a nonchalant tone. "Oh well! I can male more."
Then a green light arose revealing a woman that looked identical to the statues. She had deep green alluring eyes with a slit like a serpent. She had high cheekbones and an ice cold serpentine beauty. Her hair of serpents all moved around with each hard a different species of snake. Cobras, boas, corals, pythons, adders and all of the rest.
They all hissed at the trio.
Scar closed her eyes immediately. Remembering all of those myths and legends that she heard when she was a younger child.
Cari placed a hand on her shoulder, indicating that it was alright to look. She looked at her with a frown.
"She's not really here." She said, looking at her. "If she was, we would be stone by now."
"Well, are we not perceptive? I know that I should hardly expect anything else from you." She said, impressed.
"What do you want?"
"Well, Cari, I want you."
"Why?"
"I want you to come to me in Gresphath, dwelling in the beautiful islands that make up Olyma."
"Why and who are you?" She asked.
"Well. To answer your first question, the gods have given my orders regarding you. As for your next question, I am glad that you asked. I wish that you remember my name and remember it well, for I am none other than the vampire gorgon, Medmara!" She declared.
She walked right up to the girl.
"And I shall let you have no less than five years to come to me. Also unless the gods have told me that you are dead, or have no longer become any consequence to me, I will start to turn a child of their blood and send you their petrified remains! I hope that you understand why?" She said, as she faded.
Then the fire returned and soon the fire reached the top and Cari fired an arrow through the sealing of the bricks. The fire drew to where the hole was. Cari closed her eyes and the fire turned as white at her eyes. As the heat rose Scar had to back away. She pulled Cari and Ryo away from the fire and they were soon out of the tunnel and up the stairs just in time as the fire burned the tunnel.
They then saw the candle fall from within. As the fire burnt they told the Chronicler what happened.
"What? Medmara exists!" She exclaimed, her face pale.
"You know who she is?"
"Yes, she is the most dangerous weapon of the gods!" She exclaimed. "If she is interested in you then that seals it. You are the one who I feared you to be."
"Then why don't you tell me?" She asked.
"As I have been saying to you. I am not the one to. You must be told by him and him alone, after all, the future of this world and all of the worlds out there depends on it.”
Syren Of The Surface
They were soon on the surface page. They looked up at the sky above them as it turned a pail shade of purple and the clouds became a dark shade of maroon. They even saw the snow white sun of Merth, Clara Album, as she was high in the sky. Their eyes drank in the landscape as their eyes met the small floating islands and spheres that looked like miniature planets. As they were all going around in a heart shaped orbit.
"Hey, Scar! Oran, what's wrong?" Asked Ryo
They both wiped a tear from their eyes as they smiled. Just dimpling in three beauty and heat.
"I never thought that sky could look like that!" They both said, in unison.
"What don't they have the rainbow sky where you're from?" Ryo asked.
"No. It's just blue. Although, it does have many different colours at sunset and sunrise and is always black at night. The clouds are either white or different shades of grey. Yet nothing compares to this!"
They waited until the unicorns had finished eating the grass until they set off again.
They soon came to the centre of Publove in the Capital Kingdom of Sora No Tori. They saw the tower on an island in the river dividing the left and the right side of Publove.
Where they were, the tower looked as if it was floating on the river. Each of the floors of the tower were stacked like ever decreasing cups one on another made of cold stone. It was bigger than the others, which, unlike the rest of the towers, could be. After all, this one did not have the limit of a natural roof. It looked like a cross between a wedding cake and a castle.
They then booked everyone into the tavern, the Jump inn. Where Oran and the Chronicler stayed.
Meanwhile Scar, Cari and Ryo hired a uniak. It was made of black wood and had a rim that was carved into a rose pattern with twin sets of thorns where their paddles were supposed to go. It looked like it would have left them broke but the boat's owner let them have it for free!
"Please, if you wish to die, let it not be me that will take advantage of you folks!" The owner chuckled.
"What do you mean?"
"Look, if you go there you will die. They all do! If you make it back then you will free us!"
"Then see you later."
They then set off. After what seemed like a few hours, they were at the island. They found a sandy beech aria.
As they docked, they heard the sound of someone singing. It sounded good to their ears and welcoming, like a mother. They wanted to know where the singing was coming from but they knew that they needed to get into the tower. So they moved towards the tower, or at least that was what they started to do.
The temptation of wanting to know where the singing was coming from and what the words were saying proved too strong. As they drew closer and closer the singing became less like a beautiful, melancholic humming tune and the lyrics started.
"Heroes of great and far,
Royals of dragon star,
Leave your weapons where they are,
Cry in my arms your poor, poor Scar!"
They found themselves putting down their weapons and came closer and closer to the voice.
"Come let me repair your heart,
I will guide you to a new start!"
"Come to me, come to me,
You will all see,
Come to me, come to me,
I will set you free,
Come to me, come to me,
Forget responsibility,
Come to me, come to me,
Hear your heart plea,
Come to me, come to me,
Escape your body!"
"Children do not hold back your tears,
And forget all of your doubts and fears,
You have had so much sorrow for years,
Cry until all of your whole memory clears!"
They found that their minds were cast to all of their pain and it all came back at them all at once. This caused them to weep as their hearts became eclipsed by their sorrow. But still they continued even though they were blinded by their tears. They could do nothing to stop them from falling. They wept and wept. The tears flowed like a river. They fell like rain. All the bitterness that clutched their hearts squeezed more and more tears from them.
"Your hearts are battered,
They will be shattered!"
"Cry to me, cry to me,
I can already see,
Cry to me, cry to me,
You will be free,
Cry to me, cry to me,
My responsibility
Cry to me, cry to me,
Make your heart plea,
Cry to me, cry to me,
I will take your body!"
"Oh, too young you are all,
To answer such a cruel call,
To bring down such a wall,
So do let yourselves fall!"
Now they all felt despair and wondered why they were chosen for such a destiny. They were just children after all! Why had fate not chosen someone else? Someone more older and qualified? How could they defeat the evil Dark Master Lord Gajellidor Darcrogh? They didn't even know what they were even doing!
No, Cari should be safe in her castle with Hikari and her father. Ryo should be at his castle helping his father raise Riku! Scar, why she shouldn't even be in this time nor this world. She should be the least involved in all of this! So what were they really doing here!?
"Such a terrible card,
The battle is too hard!"
"Fall to me, fall to me,
Soon you shall see,
Fall to me, fall to me,
From life be free,
Fall to me, fall to me,
Kill responsibility,
Fall to me, fall to me,
Bleed your hearts plea,
Fall to me, fall to me,
Hide your body!"
"I am sorry but I am going to have to kill you,
This will give me remorse like you never knew,
Part of me will love all of this that is true,
Oh you do not even have a single clue!"
"Oh your death shall come soon,
You will never see another moon!"
"Die to me, die to me,
Blood I want to see,
Die to me, die to me,
You will never be free,
Die to me, die to me,
Dead responsibility
Die to me, die to me,
Death your hearts plea,
Die to me, die to me,
None will find your body!"
While all this was going on they did not realise how dark the place that they were being drawn into until they hit their heads on the brick wall in front of them. This snapped out of the depressing trance that the siren had put them in, through her lethal lyrics. They looked down to see that their necks were in the deep dark water. They tried to get out but then they felt something cold around her wrists locking them in place!
"What-what's going on?"
"There's ice around our wrists!"
"Who are you? Witch! Who are you?" Shouted Cari.
Then, from the darkness came the cold sound of the siren's laughter.
"A bit rich coming from you! Especially keeping in mind who your mentor is and what she has done in her long, long life." Called a gentle lyrical voice.
"What do you mean?"
"Well, aside from the fact that you have magic, there is the undeniable fact that you are travelling with none other than the Fallen Queen of the Fallen Kingdom of the Desert Planes."
Cari and Ryo laughed at that. Remembering what their parents had told them about her. It was said that she was the most dangerous person that one could have ever met! They told them that she was the youngest bounty hunter at no less than the age of six and by seven, the youngest assassin. None had beaten that record
The very thought that The Chronicler, even-though she looked like she could do those things, she did not act like it. In fact, she was like a motherly figure to them. To think that she had done such awful things was just unbelievable to them.
"I see that you do not believe me." She sang. "However, I am sure that the moment that she is forced back into battle you shall. I know that for sure. In fact it would be better for you to stay clear of her while she is in battle. After all, she is almost like a different person."
"Really, I'm quite sure that if she is we would have been dead the moment that she set eyes on us! Not to mention that she is nothing like the person that my father described!" Cari said.
She then felt a wind on her face accompanied by the scent of fish. She then felt a cold webbed hand on her cheek. Then she felt the cold breath of the siren.
"Oh, I am quite sure that all of those who know her only by tale, would describe her as something quite demonic indeed, Gods Slayer." She said, in her ear.
"In fact, I am quite sure that there will be tales of you most of all that would come across as demonic."
"What do you mean? And my name's Cari!"
"I know."
"Then why did you call me Gods Slayer?"
"That is what Warqua told me to call you and what I do, to make sure that your last breath is taken under the water." She said as she placed a hand on her head and forced her under the water.
Soon water stung her nose, threatening to make her sneeze. She kept her breath held as long as she could just like her father had taught her. However unlike on land pain dug into her eyes, like a thousand needles stabbing into her eyes from all over.
Then she felt a fist dig into her side. Forcing her to open her mouth and she drank in the water. Suddenly she let go and she forced her head up as soon as it could.
"Well, well, this is a surprise! A Mythos Puros!" She said as she touched her cheek.
She stroked her like she was a pet.
"Stop that!"
"I am sorry. I just find it difficult to believe that you exist. Even more so that only three random witches from Scarborough were the ones to do it. It's just so unbelievable."
Scar suddenly felt a pain in her neck which caused her to scream out in pain. Then she felt the fangs in her heck pull away quickly.
"So…you have his blood running through your veins! Tell me what name did he go by?"
"Look I don't know what you're on about but my father Alex, is a hunter!"
"Your mother?"
"None of your business! Why do you want to know?"
"Because, I think that you are a descendant of the Dark Master Lord."
She shook her head.
"No, I-I can't be! My mother and father don't even have a connection to all of this! The only reason that they are involved in any of this is because those witches kidnapped them!" She shouted.
"So, you have no connection?"
"None whatsoever!"
She sighed.
"Anyway, I think that I will let you live, but I will deal with Ryo after I have dealt with the Gods Slayer first." She sighed.
Cari felt a wave splash her chin and she found her head back under the water again. She summoned all her magic, knowing that there was no other way and set her ablaze. She got her head out of the water and her eyes met the face of their attacker. She would remember those ink blue eyes and that long cosmic blue hair and that pale chalk flesh and those slimy webbed hands with those sharp royal blue claws and the long black tail that was like a serpents with the end like two bat's wings in flight.
She then dived under the water and the ice around their wrists melted away. They soon looked up and swam to the nearest piece of land they could find, only to hit their hands on a foot of a spiralling staircase. They had been so enchanted by the song of the siren that they hardly realised when they entered the tower!
Cari soon screamed out in pain as half of her arm ripped open and the blood flowed freely and the salty water increased her pain as it burnt against it as it mixed. The pain was so bad that she started crying.
"We need to get her up!" Ryo called.
"No, we need to get out of here."
"Why? And why should I trust you now that I know that you could possibly be a-"
Then a plank of burning wood fell down and splashed the water. Scar huffed as she dragged Cari onto her back and started swimming away to the exit. They swam and swam, Ryo keeping Cari's arm above the water as they did.
They were soon out and they got on their uniak and Scar held Cari and covered her wound as they rowed to safety as the tower completely became ablaze. They were soon at the shoreline but Cari's eyes were shut. Her skin was cold and pale.
She pulled out one of her arrows and put the edge of the arrow the part away from the arrow. She saw the water vapour cloud up the silver.
"She's still breathing."
"Good." He said, relieved.
He extended his arms and she put her in them. She then took their weapons and they soon had her in the tavern. The Chronicler cleaned up her wound as they told her what happened.
"Sounds like Serwarra."
"Is she a vampire?” Scar asked, rubbing her neck.
"No, but sirens are related to them. Which you can set more on their closest relative, the mermaid."
"Can-can she d-detect m-my ancestors b-by drinking m-my blood." She said, as she shivered.
"Yes, why do you ask?"
"Because she-she told me that I'm descended from Dark Lord Gajellidor Darcrogh." S he admitted, like it was a death sentence.
The Chronicler let out a long sigh.
"Well, I know how it feels like to be descended from something evil, but the truth is that you are not them. You are who you choose to be." She explained as she placed a hand on her shoulder. "Do you understand?"
"Yes. Believe me I do!" She said, as she nodded.
